The Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) are in the process of plans for the renovation of our dearly beloved Alma Mater. The preliminary planning includes reaching out to organizations in the County of Loudoun that have an interest in the use of the facility, having permanent or shared space, and determining what would be the specific needs (for example, an office space, permanent displays for artifacts, storage space, use of kitchen and equipment, use of the gym, use of the picnic area, etc.).
The LDAA was given an opportunity to meet with members of LCPS and provide a list of our requests and desires. We had a question and answer session where we provided additional information and explanations to the list of information that we had provided. We also informed LCPS that we believe that WE are entitled to top priority because of who we are and what we represent. We represent all who attended and taught at DOUGLASS HIGH SCHOOL, and most importantly we represent the parents, grandparents, and friends who worked tirelessly to provide the funds to purchase the land upon which our beloved school was built and still stands.
