The Audit Committee assists the LDAA Board of Directors in its oversight of the integrity of the organization’s financial practices.
Responsibilities of the Audit Committee include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct internal audits of the organization’s finances at least every two years, and during transitions from one Treasurer to the next;
- Evaluate and recommend an independent auditor to perform audit of the organization’s finances as requested by the LDAA Board of Directors, and act as liaison between organization and auditor, providing support and assistance to the auditor as needed;
- Review and disclose to the LDAA Board of Directors the results of internal and independent audits;
- Evaluate the organization’s financial practices to ensure compliance with legal and 501(c)(3) requirements; and
- Recommend best practices and guidelines to minimize, and as applicable mitigate, financial risks (“risk management”).

The Communications Committee assists the LDAA Board of Directors in in fostering transparent communications in support of the organization, consistent with the organization’s long-term goals.
Responsibilities of the Communications Committee include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work closely with the LDAA Board of Directors and other committees to ensure the consistency and quality of both the content and format of all communications;
- Oversee the LDAA website and ensure high quality, relevant, and current content;
- Ensure that social networking sites, including but not limited to Facebook, are dynamic and updated continuously;
- Oversee, in conjunction with the LDAA Board of Directors, the publication of the annual LDAA newsletter; and
- Implement and monitor an overall communication plan to include publications, blast texts and/or emails, announcements, surveys, flyers, and other communication in a variety of media formats, electronic and non-electronic.

The Events & Outreach Committee assists the LDAA Board of Directors in in planning and executing social events, outreach activities, and fundraisers in support of the organization, consistent with the organization’s long-term goals.
Responsibilities of the Events & Outreach Committee include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design and execute fundraising and sponsorship strategies from various sources;
- Plan and execute social events, outreach activities, and fundraisers, including but not limited to dances, annual LDAA picnic, golf tournaments, basketball games, fundraising dinners (e.g., fish fry, charity dinners at local restaurants, etc.), volunteer activities, annual MLK event, delivery of cards to members; and
- Work closely with the LDAA Board of Directors and Financial Management Committee to establish a budget for all events.

The Financial Management Committee assists the LDAA Board of Directors in overseeing the financial strategy and performance of the organization.
Responsibilities of the Financial Management Committee include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work closely with the LDAA Board of Directors and other committees to establish a budget;
- Review the organization’s quarterly financial statements, annual resource allocation plan/budget, and other appropriate financial information concerning the organization;
- Review the organization’s internal and external audit and tax reports and other communications from the auditor as referred by the Audit Committee;
- Research and apply for grants, as applicable to the organization; and
- Support additional financially-related tasks, as charged by the LDAA Board of Directors.

The Membership & Nominations Committee assists the LDAA Board of Directors in its oversight of the integrity of the organization’s financial practices.
Responsibilities of the Membership & Nominations Committee include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain an up-to-date membership roster;
- Encourage and reach out to members to solicit payment of annual dues;
- Identify ways to rejuvenate membership and engagement;
- Assist in recruiting volunteers; and
- Provide recommendations to the LDAA Board of Directors of most qualified candidates for the available LDAA Board of Directors positions.

The Scholarship Committee assists the LDAA Board of Directors in its oversight of the integrity of the organization’s financial practices.
Responsibilities of the Scholarship Committee include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Evaluate applications and select scholarship recipients annually;
- Notify all scholarship applicants of the outcome of their application;
- Invite scholarship recipients to the annual LDAA picnic and present recipients with a certificate during the scholarship ceremony held at the picnic;
- Work closely with the LDAA Treasurer to ensure the timely disbursement of scholarship funds to the recipients’ colleges/universities;
- Collaborate with the Events & Outreach Committee to raise funds for scholarships;
- Collaborate with the Membership & Nominations Committee to solicit participation and engagement from current and former LDAA scholarship recipients.
